ABOUT ME
As an educational therapist, Mr. Nan seeks to engender feelings of independence and resilience in his students, providing patient and compassionate guidance at a developmentally-appropriate level.
With an emphasis on rapport building, Mr. Nan works with students to help them marshal their unique skills and talents to address their personal learning goals with a sense of pride and good humor.

Mr. Nan holds a bachelor’s degree from Occidental College and a master’s degree in Educational Therapy from CSU Northridge.
Mr. Nan has worked with students and taught in museums, schools, and learning resource centers, as well as tutored many students in one-on-one and group settings, developing skills and employing strategies to support students with wide-ranging learning needs and strengths.
Mr. Nan works with students, their parents, teachers, and other professionals to foster student success and confidence.
Mr. Nan has dedicated himself to the support of students in California’s San Gabriel Valley for more than twenty years.
Mr. Nan values life-long learning and finds that collaborative approaches to education strengthen students as well as the professionals who work with them.
In 2006, when students couldn’t decide how to pronounce his last name, one student assigned him the nickname “Mr. Nan” since everyone could only agree on the pronunciation of the first syllable.

Educational therapy is personalized support for individuals with learning differences provided by specialized educators who use their understanding of the impact of social, emotional, behavioral, and neurobiological development on the processes of learning and managing scholastic endeavors and responsibilities, as well as their knowledge of academic subject matter.
Educational therapists often - but not exclusively - work with individuals with ADHD, ASD, specific learning disorders, including dyslexia and dyscalculia, or who have executive functioning challenges or difficulties processing language, visual, or auditory information.
Educational therapists provide individualized care to increase our clients’ confidence and competence, helping them develop skills, strategies, and systems for success in their current academic setting and beyond.
